We didn’t build a painting company.
We built a family business.
We started KB Painting in 2019, the same week Braiden lost his corporate job and we were expecting our first child. Kaylee refinished a desk, sold it on Facebook Marketplace within hours, and KB was born in our garage — built on the belief that honest work speaks for itself. It did.
We’re still the ones running KB — involved in every project and accountable to every customer. Our crews carry our name onto the job, and our reputation rides on the result. That accountability isn’t a sales line — it’s the whole reason we started this business and the reason we’ve never wanted it to become something else.
Our crew is our own — every painter is our own employee, never a sub. We cover the Treasure Coast and South Florida, which means we’re your neighbors. We live under the same Florida sun. We know what it takes for a finish to last here.

Braiden Smith
Co-Owner
Braiden co-founded KB Painting & Refinishing with Kaylee in 2019, and he’s still on the job sites today — not behind a desk. He walks the cabinet refinishing and interior and exterior projects himself, sets the prep and finish standards the crew works to, and is usually the one who shows up for your free estimate to scope the work in person.
He runs KB with a few rules that don’t bend: every painter on your job is a KB employee, never a subcontractor, so the same accountable faces are the ones doing the work. Sherwin-Williams coatings go on every project — chosen to hold up to Florida sun, salt air, and humidity, with no generic swaps. And the work is backed in writing: a 5-year workmanship warranty on paint jobs, and a 6-month finish warranty on cabinet refinishing.

Kaylee Smith
Co-Owner
Kaylee co-founded KB Painting & Refinishing with Braiden in 2019 and runs the side of the business clients feel most: operations, scheduling, and client relations. She’s the one who keeps projects moving on time across the Treasure Coast and Fort Lauderdale, coordinates the crew’s day-to-day, and makes sure the estimate you’re quoted is the experience you actually get.
She protects the standards KB was built on. Every painter on a job is a direct KB employee, never a subcontractor, so the same familiar team is accountable from the free estimate through the final walkthrough. Projects are finished with Sherwin-Williams products spec’d for South Florida’s climate, and every job is backed in writing — a 5-year workmanship warranty on painting, and a 6-month finish warranty on cabinet refinishing.
Kaylee supports a crew with 25+ years of combined experience, and she holds the client side to the same standard the painters hold the brush: clear communication, no surprises, and work that’s done right.
