Wood doors and visible grain
Sound wood or veneer may be suitable for a new painted finish. Discuss visible grain, stain bleed, previous coatings and veneer thickness before deciding on preparation. Grain filling, stripping or replacement pieces may change the scope.
A light color over a darker finish may need a different primer or additional preparation. The selected products and a sample should establish the plan; not every water-based primer has the same stain-blocking or adhesion properties.
Thermofoil, laminate and manufactured board
Inspect the wrap and underlying material, especially around the dishwasher, sink and door edges. An intact surface may be suitable if the coating system supports it. Peeling wrap, loose veneer or swollen board needs a separate repair or replacement decision.
Removing a wrap does not guarantee that the underlying surface can be refinished successfully. We assess the actual condition and explain which pieces are suitable before agreeing to the work. Read the refinishing-versus-replacement guide if the structure or layout is also a concern.
What to budget and compare
Our full-kitchen planning range is $4,000–$7,000, with roughly $200–$400 extra for a significant color change. Door count, repairs, included fixed sections and coating requirements determine the actual quote. A large island, pantry or built-in can add work beyond the main cabinet run.
Ask the estimate to identify doors, drawer fronts, face frames, exposed ends, interiors and hardware changes separately. This makes two quotes easier to compare without assuming they include the same work.
Timing, access and care
The refinishing process includes protection, cleaning, preparation, coating and reinstallation. Door count, repairs, application conditions and product dry times affect the sequence. We plan kitchen access with you, including restrictions during masking, coating and drying.

Local crew and written coverage
KB Painting is family-owned, founded in 2019, and uses its own employees. Cabinet refinishing carries a six-month finish warranty under the written terms, separate from the five-year workmanship warranty for interior and exterior painting.
